Trickle Charger

Trickle Charger Review

A trickle charger is a more advanced traditional charger that turns off as soon as the battery reaches the 80 percent charge. Trickle chargers come in a wide variety of sizes, types, shapes and models. Some of the most common types of trickle chargers are the stand alone solar power chargers, on board chargers and 1.5 amp trickle chargers.

On board solar trickle chargers usually fit inside the engine bay under the lid. These batteries can be positioned permanently in a vehicle and most include a battery attachment kit. These trickle chargers feature a lightweight and compact design. On the other hand, the 1.5 amp automatic trickle chargers are mountable devices that allow for safe RV recharging and usually maintain 12V batteries. Lastly, the stand alone solar powered charger simply plugs into a car’s 12 Volt socket or directly connected to the battery to maintain trucks, motorcycles, ATVs, and boats.

For Car Batteries

The trickle charger for car maintenance is specifically designed for 12 volt batteries that are regularly used or kept for long periods of time. Trickle chargers keep the charge topped up by offering gradual and constant current during storage or non use.

There are innovative trickle chargers these days that even use solar power. Similar to the solar roof panels used at home or in offices, these chargers function as great energy savers during daytime. Most chargers include suction cups that will help the device stick to your windshield.

Among the notable solar trickle chargers in the market these days include ICP’s solar car trickle charger and the Sunforce 5 Watt solar battery.

For Motorcycles

Without regular use, your motorcycle battery may lose its charge. While you can still charge a battery when it is dead, it would be wise to use a trickle charger. Using this type of charger will prolong a battery’s life. Rather than letting the battery completely lose its charge, restore it today with the help of trickle chargers.

These types of chargers are also known as ‘intelligent’ motorcycle chargers as it automatically adjusts the voltage depending on your battery’s storage capacity. The pulse type chargers are popular for their ‘charge & forget’ feature.

All you need to do is plug the device to your motorcycle battery, and then leave it to charge on its own. The typical chargers need to be monitored constantly, especially when the voltage flow is erroneous.

From Walmart

Investing in a brand new car or motor battery can be quite pricey and that is where a trickle charger comes in handy. It doesn’t just prolong your battery’s life; it also lets you save on cost. There are plenty of stores that sell premium trickle chargers today such as Amazon, Walmart and NextTag.

Before heading to the store and getting a charger, make sure you do your homework. Find out which brand of trickle chargers work best for your car or motor vehicle. Try to examine for the product specifications such as amperage, charger type, automatic shutoff, cord length, portability and etc.

Consider browsing over charger reviews that you can find online. Walmart currently offers the Schumacher SE 1-Amp manual trickle charger is a handy device which plugs on to the wall outlet. Its 12 feet power cord charges 12v batteries and keeps them warm even during cold temperatures.
